After that, ABS-CBN spotted her and she became part of the noontime soap opera Mara Clara. Though she really wanted to be a singer, Angelika found more success in the field of acting. After her stint in Mara Clara, she was seen again in another Judy Ann Santos series Esperanza. She was also paired with Jericho Rosales in the teen horror series Oka Tokat and in the movie Magandang Hating Gabi, they also had a short flick in the hit series Esperanza. Moving to GMA 7

After being with ABS-CBN, Angelika decided to transfer to GMA Network. On GMA, she became part of a Jessa Zaragosa series, Di Ba't Ikaw. She was also in the youth-oriented show, Click, the noontime variety show, SOP and to the action-adventure series Pintados. But Angelika's biggest break on TV came when she starred in the series Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin where she played the role of Katherine, a girl who lost her memory when she was still young and soon found out that she was the heir of the Fuentebella clan. Her performance in the said series crowned her as the GMA's Soap Opera Princess. However, though she was very active in primetime TV, Angelika didn't stop making films. She did a mature role in the movie Hari ng Selda: Anak ni Baby Ama 2 with Robin Padilla. She also did the movie S2pid Luv with Andrew E. Her performance in the series gave her a best actress nomination.

Back to ABS-CBN 2

When Angelika's contract with GMA expired, Angelika moved back to her first home studio ABS-CBN. Controversies

  • When Sunshine Dizon, one of the lead stars of the series Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin left the show, a big rumor occurred that Angelika was one of the reason why she left the show. Angelika denied the issue saying that Sunshine left the show because she did not want to play an antagonist role.[1]
  • Ray Malonzo, a politician, claimed that Angelika dela cruz is a mistress of Mayor Echeverri. Angelika, who was very furious because of the accusations, denied the issue. [2]
  • When actress Jolina Magdangal transferred from ABS-CBN to GMA, an issue occurred between her and Angelika Dela Cruz saying that the latter was very insecure to the special treatment given to Jolina. There was also an issue that because of her insecurity to the new star of GMA, she refused to make a duet with her in the noontime variety show SOP. Angelika denied the issue and soon made a duet with Jolina singing the song Tell Me. [3]
  • December 12, 2006, actress Angelika dela Cruz became involve in a car accident. It was due to the traffic in commonwealth that day that her car was hit by a private vehicle. To her surprise, the owner of the private vehicle started telling the media how Angelika spoke to her in a harsh manner. Angelika denied the issue and filed legal content against the owner of the private vehicle. [4]

Trivia

  • She was offered to play the role of Alena for the fantasy series Encantadia but she turned down the offer due to her existing contract with ABS-CBN. The role eventually went to Karylle.[5]

  • She was once linked to Erik Santos, Derek Ramsay and Keempee De Leon.
  • She had her first onscreen kiss in the movie Hari ng Selda: Anak ni Baby Ama 2 with Robin Padilla.
  • She was originally hesitant to accept the role of Lavinia, fearing that she would be typecasted in antagonist roles. She eventually decided to accept the role because (among other reasons) it gave her a chance to resume her singing career, which had been on hold for several years due to legal problems with her previous recording label.
  • She was offered to do a commercial for White Castle whisky but she turned it down because she's not comfortable wearing bikini.
  • She is a close friend of Jodi Sta. Maria, Claudine Barretto and Judy Ann Santos.
  • She sang the Tagalog version of the opening song for the anime Sailor Moon.
  • She was supposed to play a role in the series Ysabella but her manager thought that the role is quite small for her so it eventually went to Desiree Del Valle. [6]
  • She was offered the role of Pacita in the series Super Inggo but she turned it down due to the nature of the role. The role was given to Angelu de Leon.

Bea Alonzo (Philipines)

Bea Alonzo is one of the most admired young actresses in the Philippines.

In early 2003, she caused quite a stir among critics and teleserye buffs alike, receiving critical acclaim for her performance as awkward nerdy girl turned feisty law student Katrina Argos in ABS-CBN’s Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay. Her convincing portrayal of a 21-year old in spite of being only 15 at the time and her strong chemistry with on-screen partner, John Lloyd Cruz brought kilig surges to every household in the Philippines and abroad.

The overwhelming response of the “accidental teleserye couple” was unexpected. The two are now known as one of the country’s premiere loveteams, not only known for their sizzling chemistry but for their powerful acting prowess.

The media quickly took notice of her sheer talent. The Philippine Star’s columnist Ricky Lo was once quoted, “she acts with the intensity of a veteran even if she’s actually a relative greenhorn.” In Star Studio magazine’s October 2003 issue, Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay co-director Don Cuaresma exclaimed that Bea has “the masa appeal of Sharon Cuneta, the intensity of Maricel Soriano, and the acting range of Lorna Tolentino.”

People don’t really know what it is. Where she gets the spirit or the motivation for the gripping performances. Maybe it’s her obvious passion for acting, whatever it is she plays the role with such complexity, precision and depth. With her emotions mirroring in her eyes.

After Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, she remains to be popular among teleserye fans in the Philippines and abroad with her follow-up dramas: It Might Be You and Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin. She is currently filming her fourth drama with John Lloyd Cruz, Maging Sino Ka Man.

Since her movie launch, My First Romance in 2002, Bea has top-billed five more films and has constantly earned movie critics’ approvals:

“Once again, Bea Alonzo fills the screen with the stellar presence of a movie queen, a winsome, breezy demeanor, infectious verve - and the ability th charm her way into the viewer’s hearts.” — Rito P. Asilo’s Close to You review, Philippine Daily Inquirer 2/18/2006

“The film’s biggest asset is really Bea Alonzo. The camera just loves her and, properly nurtured, we have no doubt she’d be an even bigger star in the near future.” — Mario Bautista’s Dreamboy review, Malaya 2005

She continues to prove her versatility with different projects: making movies, dramas, TV guestings, hostings and endorsements.

Bea Alonzo is not just another household name, the girl is an actress. One who delivers her performances with obvious beauty and surprising maturity.

Biography

Shaina Magdayao is the youngest daughter of Enrique and Deanne Magdayao. She has three older sisters (Shiela, Sharon and Sheryl), one of whom is singer-actress Vina Morales (Sharon). She caught the eye of someone at ABS-CBN and became part of the Star Magic Family at the age of seven. She was included in the cast of the just-revamped Ang TV show, Kaybol. She was then brought together, with two other great child actresses of the time Camille Prats and Serena Dalrymple to star in ABS-CBN's afternoon drama series Marinella, playing the role of Rina. In 2000, when Shaina was 11 years old, she released a self-titled debut album with Star Records. The carrier single was "Sayaw Sweet Lullabye". The song's music video was often played in the afternoons right before Marinella or youth-oriented shows. Shaina has also played daughter to a very wide-range of celebrity "parents" on the big and small screens. It was a role like this, in 2003 for the Laurice Guillien helmed project Tanging Yaman, that won her a Best Child Actress award from the FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards), and Most popular Child Actress Award from the 2002 Guillermo Mendoza Awards. She has appeared in several drama series and sitcoms, and at one point, doing three at the same time ("Seasons of Love", "Bida si Mister Bida si Misis", "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay"), while going to regular school. She started to be home-schooled in late 2004, as her schedule got even more hectic, but will be graduating at the same time as Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo. In 2005, she was included in the cast of the much underrated primetime drama series "Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin", along with Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo, her best friend Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz. It was here that she was paired with actor-dancer Rayver Cruz, who she is currently still being paired with. She is currently still taping for the Chito Rono and Erik Matti's newest television series, "Rounin", set to air in April 2006. She is currently starring in the afternoon light drama "Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv" along with her loveteam, Rayver Cruz and 23 other young stars untar Magic. Dennis Trillo ( Philippines)

Abelardo Dennis Florencio Ho (born May 12, 1981 in Quezon City, Philippines), or more famously known as Dennis Trillo is a television and film actor in the Philippines. His film debut Aishite Imasu (Mahal Kita) 1941 which skyrocketed him into a matinee idol status. He is currently an artist of GMA Network, his rise to fame was proven in 2006 when he won the Best Actor trophy thrice that same year defeating heavy contender, Piolo Pascual.

Life and career

Trillo comes from a well-off family, the eldest son in the family. He attended Ateneo de Manila University throughout pre-school and elementary and moved to Jose Abad Santos Memorial High School Then in High School on C.O.L. Community Of Learners . He completed a degree in International Studies at Miriam College.

His career in entertainment started in 2000 at ABS-CBN,[1] when he was introduced as one of the young talents for the 10th batch of Star Circle, ABS-CBN Network’s artist machinery (now known as Star Magic). He was seen in the television soap opera Pangako Sayo & Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan where he played the confidante of one of the lead stars. Despite his exposure, Trillo’s career did not really take off. He used to be in a rock band called Moyg.

His biggest breaks came upon his transfer to GMA Network wherein he became one of its contract stars. He was cast in several television outings like Kahit Kailan, Twin Hearts and Love to Love.

Trillo's stardom continued to rise in 2004, when he became one of the lead stars in the popular telefantasya (fantasy-themed TV series) Mulawin. He made his film debut in Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita, where he received raves for his portrayal of a cross-dressing spy for the HUKBALAHAP during the advent of the Japanese invasion in World War II. For Aishite Imasu, he received several awards and citations including Best Supporting Actor from the 30th Metro Manila Film Festival and Best Actor trophies from the Film Academy of the Philippines, the PMPC Star Awards For Movies, and the Young Critics Circle. He was also included in the third installment of Mano Po, which starred Vilma Santos, a veteran actress and grand-slam Best Actress awardee.

2005 proved to be a more fruitful year for Trillo. He was part of the hit TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo comic, Darna, where he played the love interest of both the titular super-heroine as well as her archenemy Valentina. He was later part of the drama anthology Now and Forever: Agos, where he again showcased his acting prowess. That same year he reprised his role for Mulawin: The Movie, and was also in the film Blue Moon alongside award-winning actors Eddie Garcia and Christopher de Leon, this is also the same year where he proved his acting prowess when he defeated heavy contender, Piolo Pascual thrice for the best actor trophy. Many critics said that Dennis' advantage over Piolo is that Dennis can act on any genres of film and TV, he can also portray other roles including villain and gay roles.

Trillo was again cast as a lead in Etheria, where he portrayed the Sapirian prince, Raquim, previously donned by Richard Gomez. Midway through the series, GMA Network management announced that Trillo would be pulled out of Etheria to once again star opposite Angel Locsin (who played Darna) in Majika, another fantasy-themed television series. Although subsequent to the announcement, many Etheria fans felt that it would be a big blow to the series since he plays a major character. Ultimately, it was cleared that Trillo would see the series to its finale.

Trillo also had dealt with nasty gossip. One is that he had a son with a model and he other is questioning his sexuality. Trillo reunites with former love team Angel Locsin as they top-bill in GMA Network’s newest offering, a television fantasy series aptly called Majika. Trillo plays Argo, a provocatively clad Salamanca (wizard) with finesse in archery who teaches his protégée Sabina (Angel Locsin) how to hone her craft and become a powerful sorceress. Aside from his television show, Trillo also starred in the horror-suspense film Pamahiin, which is his first major acting role for the particular film genre. Recognizing his passion for making music, GMA also included him as a co-host for the network's noontime show "SOP" where he also displays his talent for drums as part of the show's Starband. He made a "Lenten Presentation" in GMA-7 entitled "Unico Hijo" which he played the role of Agnes, a gay, an AIDS victim, son of a well-known politician in their province.

On August 17, 2007, PEP said that Dennis Trillo, Marian Rivera and Judy Ann Santos will star in Regal films's When I Met You to be directed by Regal's Joel Lamangan, but he will not make it with Angel Locsin. Dennis is now doing Kulam with Judy Ann Santos for Regal Films also. On August 21, Dennis started in taping his new fantaserye of GMA-7's Zaido, where he stars with Raymart Santiago, Marky Cielo, Aljur Abrenica, and Lorna Tolentino, at a studio in Marilao, Bulacan.[2]
